Services
We offer various services at Lakeside Psychology. All services are offered in English or French. Please contact us to schedule an appointment or to request more information about our services.

Therapy:
We offer treatment services for children, adolescents, adults, and families, including individual therapy, family therapy, and parenting guidance. Each clinician strives to create a trusting therapeutic relationship and values the opportunity to cultivate a welcoming, warm space. We utilize an integrative approach to therapy, meaning that our work is grounded in evidence-based treatment while also recognizing that people are best served by a flexible approach that draws from various theoretical frameworks. Some of the theoretical frameworks we may draw from include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy-informed (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotion focused therapy (EFT), and brief, solution-focused therapy, among others that may be beneficial. This allows us to tailor therapy to best suit individual needs and preferences.

Psychoeducational Assessment:
A psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that examines cognitive abilities—including memory, processing speed, attention, and phonological processing—and academic skills, with the goal of identifying areas of strength as well as areas of need requiring support. We provide psychoeducational assessments for children (ages 6 and up), teens, and adults. This type of assessment can help identify learning strengths or challenges, such as giftedness, learning disabilities, cognitive impairments, executive functioning differences, and attentional concerns within the context of ADHD.
Psychoeducational assessments can be conducted in English or French. French assessments are offered for students who attend full French or French Immersion schooling and are typically completed using a combination of English and French assessment measures. Assessments are customized based on the student’s needs and the referral question to provide the most accurate information for dual-language learners.

The results of a psychoeducational assessment can inform practical recommendations for supporting learning at home, school, or within the workplace. All assessments include a written report that can be used in the school system to assist with the development of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). For adults, the report can facilitate accommodations at post-secondary institutions or in the workplace.

The Process:

-
Background/History: Interview and questionnaires with the child and parent(s), along with a review of relevant data (e.g., report cards, prior assessments, medical documentation).
-
Assessment Sessions: Administration of standardized tests, observations, and clinical interviewing with the child, teen, or adult participating in the assessment.
-
Feedback: A feedback session occurs after all information has been gathered. The psychologist explains the results of the assessment, highlights areas of strength and need, and provides recommendations and next steps.
-
Report: After feedback, a detailed report will be provided. The report includes background information, results of standardized testing, a clinical formulation (a written summary that brings the information together to explain the individual’s learning profile), and practical recommendations. This is your report, and you may share it with anyone you believe should have the information, such as school personnel or your family doctor.
-
Fee: Psychoeducational assessments are charged at a flat rate. Please contact our office for additional details.

Psychodiagnostic Assessment:

A psychodiagnostic assessment is a comprehensive, stand-alone evaluation used to explore psychological functioning, support self-understanding, and provide diagnostic clarification around possible mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, ASD, trauma-related disorders, and bipolar spectrum disorders. This type of assessment is individualized and can be completed with or without plans to pursue therapy services afterwards. We provide psychodiagnostic assessments for children, teens, and adults. Each assessment is tailored to the specific questions being explored and may include clinical interviews, a review of past documentation or reports (if available), and completion of questionnaires. The process also includes a case formulation and recommendations, and, if desired, a written report, assessment summary, or diagnostic letter. This type of assessment may be pursued for various reasons, including to inform treatment, guide medication decisions, or obtain accommodations in work or educational settings.

The Process:

-
Background/History: Initial interview, questionnaires, and review of relevant data (e.g., report cards, prior assessments, medical documentation).
-
Assessment Sessions: Clinical interviews, observations, and incorporation of standardized testing when applicable.
-
Feedback: A feedback session takes place after all information is gathered. The psychologist explains the results of the assessment, highlights areas of strength and need, and provides recommendations and next steps.
-
Report: A written report, assessment summary, or diagnostic letter (a brief document outlining presenting concerns, strengths, diagnoses, and recommendations) will be provided. Clients may choose the format that best suits their needs.
-
Fee: Psychodiagnostic assessments are billed per 50-minute clinical session and typically range from three to seven sessions. Additional costs may apply for standardized testing, assessment interpretation, or completion of a written report, summary, or diagnostic letter. Please contact our office for additional details.
